Matador Capital, a private venture capital firm with interests in a range of global projects needed a CEO for one of their entities, Superior Lake Resources. The role was to promote and oversee the progress and development of their Pick Lake and Winston Lake high-grade zinc projects in Canada, and get them through to study phase quickly and successfully.
It was a big job and they needed a strong, experienced, driven, and personable individual to do it. By applying our rigorous A5 Way, we found them the right one for the job: Dave Woodall. He brought over 30 years international mining experience with him, with over 10 of those years being in Canada. An extremely driven, personable and experienced leader who was more than ready to step into a CEO role. He had evaluated over 40 projects around the world for various companies in the last 18 months, and brought with him promotions, strategy, and financial investment experience. A top candidate and great match for the job that needed to be done.
How do we know he was the right one for the job? While it’s still early days in the role, the initial results speak for themselves: He has already led the completion of the 3D geological resource model, confirmed the initial resource, initiated several meetings with stakeholders interested in the project, and has started to build strong relationships with the local community and First Nations.
The best part? The impact the role has had on Dave:
It’s a great opportunity, and I feel good about taking the role working with good people on a great project. You can make it what you want, this project has a lot of potential and there is real excitement in having the opportunity to build a company.
For me personally, it’s a great opportunity to use 30 years of skills from various positions to better develop a project.”
