We were tasked with finding a thought leader to identify where opportunities were in the market. The person needed to be adaptable, engaging and have strong leadership and marketing capability.
This role presented a number of challenges in terms of the ambiguity of Cobalt and Blackstone's preference for a Perth based MD, dealing with primarily North American based assets. We cast a wide net to ensure we captured emerging leaders, meeting a large group prior to shortlisting to ensure the right motivation and cultural fit.
We got to work in defining the role and needs and applied our A5 Way to find them the right one for the job.
We found them Scott Williamson; not only did he have the right education, experience and skills, but also the character to embrace the challenges the job required. Scott is someone who wanted to work outside his comfort zone, who wanted to make a difference.
Scott is an Engineer with a Commerce degree from the West Australian School of Mines and Curtin University. He has 11 + years experience in technical and corporate roles in the mining and finance sectors. Scott had expanded his repertoire in the mining sector with big companies like Rio Tinto Ltd and outfits such as Resolute Mining Ltd and Perseus Mining Ltd across a variety of roles.
